A collaboration between UK based multi-instrumentalist Chris Conway and Thailand based Buddhist monk Ajahn Achalo setting chants to evocative music and soundscapes.
Buddhist monk Ajahn Achalo, based in a small monastery in Petchabun, in the hills of Thailand heard UK based Chris Conway's Buddha Dreamer album and contacted him asking if he'd like to collaborate on a project putting evocative music to some chanting.
Ajahn recorded his chants in his monastery and sent them to Chris via the internet. Over the next few months Chris set some music and then, for each track, ideas and suggestions passed back and forth and amendments were made.
Some tracks called for an Indian influence so Chris called in his friend Neil Donoghue (collaborator on the album Ayurveda Gold) to play sitar on 4 tracks. Likewise Celtic harper Mo Coulson recorded on 2 tracks to add her special sound to them.
9 months since Ajahn sent his first chant, the recording and mastering was finished.
Recorded August 2016 to March 2017 at Aloft Studios, Leicester UK and Anandagiri Forest Monastery, Petchabun, Thailand.
